5 Powerful Exercises for Increasing your Confidence.

One of the most powerful assets in your mental arsenal is to increase your confidence – to feel good about yourself so that you can attract the things you want in life and give off an energy of being knowledgeable and passionate about what you’re saying.

But if you’re naturally someone who struggles with self-confidence, how can you simply ‘switch off’ that self-doubt and become more confident. Confidence is what turns thought into action – which is kind of what we’re all about.

Confidence is a very broad term that gets thrown around a lot. This is a bit damaging because we tend to think of it as a single term that encompasses so much about who we are. We are either  â€˜super confident’ or ‘not confident at all’.

In reality though, confidence is much more contextual than that. You can be confident in one domain and you can lack confidence in another. For example, Maybe you absolutely stripe the ball off the tee but chip like your having a seizure! – does that make you a confident or unconfident golfer?

A common mistake is spending time on things we are already good, I get it, practise is way more fun when your flushing it, but it's important to spend the proper percentage of time on the parts of your game that are not so hot.

Challenge yourself

Its smart to practise the areas your not so strong in, as you get better in these areas, you’ll find that your overall confidence improves, you have more strings to your bow and fewer areas that you consider to be flaws.

More important than this even is the psychology of simply trying new things and taking on new challenges. Each little ‘win’ will flood your brain with positive hormones that reward you and make you more inclined to try again but don't be afraid to fail! No one on this planet that has ever achieved greatness hasn't failed over and over again

You cannot succeed without Failure.

Everytime you fail with the right mindset, it will make you more accustomed to picking yourself back up and trying again, this builds confidence and self worth. If you’re looking for ways to challenge yourself ( outside of Golf)  try taking a freezing cold shower in the morning ( no hot tap at all) you will instinctively want to breathe erratically, slow your breathing until you have control for a minute or so then turn the hot tap back on to give you some relief but the important part is ...praise yourself. Wash yourself in the warm for another minute or so and then go straight back to Cold Tap only! for one more minute before you get out. Once again you'll need to calm your mind and control your breathing, tell yourself 'you got this' Trust me! the feeling of power and accomplishment when you get out will blow you away and set your day up for success.

Before trying something new, visualize yourself succeeding. This can help you to activate certain areas of your brain as though you really had succeeded and that will help to quash any doubt and boost your confidence. You can enhance this further by listening to some empowering music and reminding yourself that it’s a challenge and not an obstacle.

Better yet, if you keep practicing this it can eventually become habit – meaning that you’ll automatically visualize yourself succeeding in future when taking on any new challenge!
